Our Mission & Vision

Final_LogoSafer Communities Ministry, Inc. (SCM) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that provides Rehabilitation Programs for inmates, ex-offender, addicts, and their families.  SCM partners with churches, religious organizations, community and government service providers, businesses, and civic groups in Union County and surrounding counties.  SCM staff and volunteers work within the Union County Jail.  These individuals teach Life Skills classes, provide Chaplaincy services, conduct Bible Studies, and provide spiritual guidance and support to the inmates.  Our goal is to teach incarcerated men and women how to be good Godly individuals with integrity and character.

SCM staff and volunteers also work within the local community by providing assistance and support to ex-offenders, addicts, and their families.  It is our mission to come along side those who are struggling and help reintegrate them back into society.  We believe that anyone can be transformed and made new through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Our goal is for each individual to be rehabilitated and for broken families to be restored.  We provide hope to the hopeless and empower the weak to be strong.

SCM believes that family is the most important thing other than God.  Therefore, our mission to reach those who are hurt and struggling does not stop at the inmate, ex-offender, or addict.  When an individual encounters hardships and strongholds, their family is impacted as well.  We provide services to assist and support spouses, children, siblings, and the extended family.  We are building safer communities by transforming the lives of inmates, ex-offenders, those struggling with addiction, and their families one person at a time. Communities will be safer when the broken find healing; takers become givers; and tax liabilities become tax paying, law abiding citizens.

Making SAFER COMMUNITIES for you and your children through the

“But God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”– Romans 5:8

The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for everyone.
But, for those who have been on a self-destructive path for so long,
the road to forgiveness, healing and recovery may seem almost insurmountable.
The truth is that God can and does transform lives. We see God moving every day!

For over 30 years, Safer Communities Ministry has been giving hope to the hopeless.

“Building safer communities by transforming the lives of inmates, ex-offenders, those struggling with addiction, and their families. Communities will be safer when the broken find healing, takers become givers, and tax liabilities become tax paying, law abiding citizens.” — Al Lewis, Jr

Safer Communities Ministry partners with churches, religious organizations, community and government service providers, businesses, and civic groups to break and decrease the Recidivism cycle.
